INGREDIENTS
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 cups of milk
- 1 1/2 cup Cracker Barrel Shredded Double Cheddar Cheese
- 2 lb. (900 g) fresh white asparagus stems, trimmed, cut into 1-inch sections, blanched
Preparation
Heat oven to 425 ° F.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
Fry the onion for 3 to 5 minutes or until just tender.
Whisk in the flour; cook 2 min.
Gradually whisk in the milk until well blended; cook on medium-high heat for 3-5 minutes or until thickened, whisking constantly.
Add the cheese; cook 1 min or until melted, stirring constantly.
Add the asparagus; stir to coat.
Pour the mixture into a 1.5-liter baking dish; cook 15 min. or until bubbly and browned. Let stand 10 min before serving.
