Unhealthy Foods List

Daily, we eat vitamins because they are part of our diet. While some foods can boost our brains, there are foods that affect our memory and intelligence. Indeed, according to various studies, a deficiency of vitamin B can, for example, have harmful consequences on our brain. This deficiency would lead to a decrease in our capacities. It is, therefore, necessary to know what are the foods to avoid in order not to suffer from these problems.

Foods that damage memory

Many foods damage our brains. Many studies talk about it. These foods can be grouped into five distinct types. To avoid these consequences, we recommend avoiding:

  • Sugars: Some people consume a lot of sweets: they have an excess of sugar in the blood. According to the University of Berlin, these people are more likely to suffer from memory problems.
  • Junk food: Research by the University of California shows that fast food is not good for our brains. Indeed, this type of food is full of calories and saturated or processed fats, which are harmful to the synapses of the brain. They also act negatively on molecules related to memory and learning.
  • Red meat: The consumption of red meat hurts memory. A Boston study showed that people who eat a lot of beef have lower cognitive function than vegetarians, for example.
  • Simple carbohydrates: This food group includes non-skimmed milk, flour, and refined sugars. They can cause memory problems, especially in patients with type 2 diabetes. They also reduce school performance.
  • Fructose: It is present in all processed foods. It is also found in foods to which corn syrup is added (sodas, sweetened juices, canned fruits). It causes some slowness in the brain and causes memory problems.

Foods that harm the intelligence

The five groups mentioned above are not the only harmful foods. Indeed, there are other foods that can also harm the development of our brain and intelligence. They are therefore absolutely not recommended for children, mainly. But beware, they will also be avoided in adults. Indeed, these foods can greatly affect our productivity at work. Here they are :

  • Alcohol: In addition to damaging our liver in the long term, alcohol causes a "brain fog", that is to say, a mental confusion. It affects our ability to think clearly in the most common moments of our daily lives: we can not remember a street or a name, or we can no longer solve simple problems of calculation mental. Alcohol undoubtedly disturbs our brain. But the most serious thing is that it is irreversible.
  • Fries: This is all foods related to fast food, bathed in oil or hot fat. What's more, fries contain chemicals, additives, artificial flavors, and dyes. They influence our behavior, cause hyperactivity and destroy our cognitive functioning as well as the nerve cells of the brain. Of all the oils used for frying, sunflower oil is the most dangerous
  • Highly salty foods: As we know, salt is not good for blood pressure or heart disease. But we must also know that it can affect the functioning of our brain. It damages our ability to think and reason. In reality, this means that salt harms our intelligence. Likewise, it can cause symptoms similar to those of the drug, that is to say, a chronic abstinence syndrome.
  • Refined grains: A single grain does not affect our intelligence: it is whole grain, high in fiber and used to prevent aging. If you eat refined grains (such as white flour), you will be more likely to suffer from mental confusion or memory loss.
  • Processed proteins: This group includes processed meats, including industrial products such as sausages and salami. These proteins do not isolate the nervous system, on the contrary, they activate it too much. The same thing happens in the brain. You can no longer maintain your concentration on a task, and you have trouble responding effectively to what you are asked.
  • Processed fats: These fats also produce cholesterol, cause obesity as well as some heart problems. They make our brain slower, which logically affects the quality of the responses or reflexes when we speak or when we drive. They also increase the risk of stroke. If you use it for a long time, the brain will start functioning as if you have Alzheimer's disease. Our capacity of mind will be reduced.
  • Artificial sweeteners: It is often thought that sweeteners are better than sugar, especially when dieting to lose weight. But that's a mistake. It's true that sweeteners do not have calories, but they can be counterproductive to our body. If taken over a long period, they can cause brain damage and impair our cognitive abilities.
